So Dan received his new 3G iPhone on Friday when we were in NYC and I've been playing around with tiny internet all weekend. It's a lot of fun but I'm still getting used to the touch screen. I was on OB browsing around and totally feel like a crazy stalker because every time I tried to enlarge the text, my fat fingers clicked on someone's profile on OB. Enjoy all my profile views people!!

So I don't know what it is or if I'm missing something, but recently on c.com I've seen a huge influx of Magic Knight Rayearth cosplay. Believe me, I think it is a really, really good thing. It was one of the first manga I've ever owned (back when Mixx was still around) and I love the anime so much. It just struck me as I was browsing the photos, there's at least one MKR related photo on every page.

I would love to see other 90's series that came out around that time become more popular like Battle Angel Alita or Blade of the Immortal!

I had this huge plan to get Leslie done for AnimeNext but I kept running into issues due to me just not knowing what the heck I'm doing. So I lost a lot of steam and put things off and I just won't have it done in time for AN. I'm a little sad but Dan and I are still going and looking forward to a great time on Saturday, the 13th. I have one or two things that I still need photos of so I might bring something but I just don't know yet, (I really think it's going to depend on how hot it is).

But yeah, I definitely spending the past week freaking out though - I would plan out everything I would need to do for the day and I wouldn't get a fraction of it done and it kinda made me more and more stressed. Moving on though! I have June mapped out so if I stay on target Viola will be underway and I should be done long before anything. *crosses fingers*

I did however start on the shoes and accessories a little bit...

The shoes were Mudd wedges from the clearance section of DSW. I removed all the little buttons and beads, covered the bottom with maroon spandex, added a tan suede lined with cotton and finally added a felt circle for whatever that is on her shoes. I haven't yet figured it out.


The necklace is all foam. The armbands are foam with fur trim on the top. Originally, I had the gold bands waaay too big but I ripped everything apart, cut it down and I think it looks ok!

I went out and bought all my materials today so I have everything laid out and organized on my bed ready to be worked on. So hopefully, more photos of finished things to come!

My allergies are not enough to keep me in bed but just enough to make me feel like a zombie. The past couple weeks have been so bleh! The weather was sooooo beautiful today that Dan dragged me outside and we went for a nice long walk.

One thing in particular, we passed by the Chemical Heritage Foundation Museum hoping to go in but they're only open Mon through Fri 10am-4pm except on First Friday when it stays open til 8pm so if anyone wants to learn about Chemistry with us on a Friday evening, let Dan or I know!

Cosplay

Thank you guys so much for commenting on my last post. I have decided to go with the innocent wig for Viola and it should be here on Monday. If I continue to stick to my schedule, by next weekend, I'll have the wig done and finally have some progress pictures! I also finished the necklace, the armbands and the shoes so I'll have all that up too.

I'm embarrassed to say I spent all day hemming and hawing over the wig and I still haven't made up my mind. I beg for suggestions! I would like to purchase the wig supplies soon but I'm having a really hard time deciding how to go about constructing the base wig. Possible options are:

1) Go with a very short wig, like a Roni from Cosworx, and just style the bangs

2) Go with a longer wig which will be stubbed and the buns attached separately as well as sewing in wefts to make the back part

3) Go with the Innocent wig from Amphigory which will already have the back part and all I'll need to do is stub and attach my buns.

Any help is appreciated!

Around 2pm yesterday, one of the sprinklers went off in my department. It smelled really terrible and they couldn't figure out how to turn the water off.

Today, everything looks like the movie "E.T." when he's been captured and there are white plastic sheets everywhere. They're trying to prevent mold from taking over so I hope it works!

I finished my pink fairy thingy so it's all packed up and ready for spring. I was hoping to finish it by the end of the month so I could start March out with all new everything.

Anime
So! While I sew, I'd like to have some anime on to pass the time and for this month's selection is:
- Rose of Versailles episodes 1-40
(so I cheated a little and already watched the first 9 episodes and I really, really want to do Mme du Barry's crazy big, green dress. Please let me know if anyone wants to do Marie Antoinette!)

- Tweeny Witches episodes 1-26
(I haven't heard much about it but I love the art style so much that I'll give it a shot.)


Cosplay
I have three big projects that I would like to have done by the end of this year plus a couple little things here and there if I have some spare time. If I time it right and work hard, I should have one ready for AnimeNext in June, another one good for AnimeUSA and finally whichever is last will be worn at Katsu next year.

I agree with a lot of people who said the con was meh. I did go to a few panels on Friday and they were excellent, but after that there seemed like nothing to do. The game room was a sad comparison to last year's and they put all the anime I wanted to watch on at 4 or 6am. I have no complaints about the hotel other then it was the worst layout possible for cosplay. There was just nowhere for people to gather and take photos and I felt the clogged hallways really dragged a lot of the con down for me because I didn't get to see a lot of the amazing costumes due to cosplayers having to disperse outside the hotel to actually get photos.

The social part was awesome! It was great getting to see everyone and meet new people. Dan and I opted out of partying Saturday night since it was our anniversary and just relax with each other and the cable tv.

The cosplay aspect was a lot of fun too. I ended up wearing Taiki on Saturday and while not all the group was able to get together at the same time, everyone look soooooo amazing and I really hope we can do it again. I have to say that I am so thankful for being allowed to cosplay with everyone. It was a great learning experience and I hope to organize another one soon!

I'm still going through photos and I'll post them soon. For now though, I'm getting ready to head up to Pez's to see Blam and everyone. Dan and I've been missing everyone all week so we geared up to hang out with everyone again so soon!

Runnemede, NJ House - SOLD! THE END!

I still can't believe but the house is sold!! Of course, the craziest thing - the people who bought the house are a married couple and I work with the woman! She literally sits 10 feet away from me in the other room with the rest of the art department. We don't talk at all which is why I never knew it was her so you can imagine how shocked I was when she walked into the closing and was like "Oh, hey Marisa! I saw your name on the contracts but I was too embarrassed to ask just in case it wasn't you."

Apartment News

The lady downstairs apparently is a scam artist who does this a lot. According to our landlord, she's been evicted out of three other apartments by running the same scam by not paying rent and doing every shady thing in the book to stay as long as possible.

The sheriff is coming to get her out of the place on Wednesday.

Anyone looking for a 1br/1ba apartment? eh? eh?

Please excuse my face, I'll have better make-up later. One complaint- out of alllllll of the millions of sailor scouts why did I choose the one without bangs? It's not a flattering wig; it makes my face look really, really long but what I'm worried about is keeping the wig in place so it doesn't slide back and show my real hair line. Just as a precaution, I dyed my real hair to match the wig better and have a ton of hair pins ready for this.
